Presence Video Security Camera App Reviews

The downloadable video needs a date & time stamp to be useful as a security camera app. I have 9 security cameras. This will make number 10. Almost 5 stars IF the above was a feature

Experiencing many problems after upgrading to version 3. The App stops itself, waiting waiting for camera, connecting long long time to streaming, etc. etc. looks like the new version needs more works! Just did an upgrade on 5/2/2016. V 4.0.7? It was bad! The app did not work anymore since. The screen flashed and disappeared every times when the app was turned on. Can not use it at all! Cant go back to previous version 4.0.6 The new version needs high iOS to work? It is not working with my old iPhone anymore.

We absolutely loved the Presence app! We use multiple phones to keep an eye on our senior, partially blind/deaf dog, and also to watch our garage/backyard. I have also used it in hotel rooms while traveling. Again, love it. This last weekend I can home to find my mint condition iPhone 5 had basically exploded. Running the app overheated the iPhone and the battery exploded inside and destroyed my phone. Has anyone else had similar issues? Highly disappointed and seriously concerned at what could of possibly happened while we were away.

The app is okay if your camera is in the same home. We have a camera in our cabin 100 miles away and it keeps going offline even though it has a strong wifi connection. Had a feeling this was too good to be true.

Video quality is poor even with both devices (iPhone 6s Plus & iPad Air) on the same LAN.

I use it to keep an eye on my dog while Im out. Love it.

I have been using this app for the past nine months with 11 different iOS devices, and have been very please with its performance. Seven of those devices are for cameras, and the other four are for monitoring. These include iPhones 4, 4s, 5, 5s, 6, 6s and iPad 2, Air, Air 2. Since these cameras are recording motion 12 hours a day, its not unusual for me to have almost 100 videos a day. This is one of the reasons I upgraded to the pro level. Along with the 5GB of cloud storage, it also gives me longer recording times and quicker times between recordings. The motion detection works very well. The sensitivity setting does help reduce unnecessary recordings. It would help if there was the ability to mask off certain areas from motion detection. I have requested this enhancement, and they said they were considering it. The live monitoring is not as clear as the video recordings. It varies depending on the device. Of the devices that I use for cameras, my iPhone 4 is the worst live, but its recording are just as clear as the others. Since the majority of time Im reviewing recordings, its not that big of a problem. The notification and email alerts work very well. I havent used the Twitter setting. I do use the video sharing. It lets others see the cameras recordings that you choose. The rules feature comes in handy when you want to schedule when to turn motion detection on and off, or change when you want to use the front camera or the back one. If the live monitoring was a little clearer, and if there was the ability to mask motion detection, I would consider this app to be perfect. Its still the best thing out there. There are lot more cool features that I didnt mention, and they seem dedicated to keep improving the app. Its a good choice for an inexpensive monitoring system.

I have the camera app set up in an iPhone 4 in an apartment, out of the country. It works for a few hours, then the camera app quits by itself and dont have remote access anymore. Since I dont have a person that could go to my apartment to re-start the camera app, this system is totally useless for me. Come on people, this has been happening for over a year. Fix it!!!!

App works as expected and has the handy feature of letting you know how much storage you are using when it is saving. Seems a bit slow on the iPhone 4 camera. Will keep working with it.

Its ok for maybe checking in on your dog once in awhile, but DO NOT rely on this for security. It crashes and disconnects from your cameras FREQUENTLY! Ive had it since it first came out and it hasnt gotten any more reliable. Also, the sound doesnt work on the iPhone 4 that Im using.

Ive used the app almost since it was added. I really liked it and it has worked fairly well until the last update. Now it has crashed on both iPhone 4 and iPad 1. Hope March update will help. Did stop sending emails the middle of February not sure why.

I love this app! I have been a loyal Presence user ever since I started having unused iPhones laying around. The Geofencing features are great, allowing me to arm and disarm camera views when I am around or not. I got Presence Security for a house warming present and it literally made my new home a smart home out of the box. This app has earned its place in my lifestyle.

Update: Latest update failed to remediate any of the issues listed below. Presence was great for a time, offering accessible remote viewing and instant email alerts with snapshots, but those winning features have dissipated, sadly. Now the monitor just states the camera as "last connected 2 weeks ago" when it is clearly online. So much for connecting to a live stream when away from home. Motion detection still works, but the time stamp for arrival was incorrect, off by 2.3 hours. This seems very suspicious, as though the system was hacked. Admittedly the monitor runs ios 6.1, which should be compatible, according to the app description. Since Presence encourage us to make use of our old devices, how about delivering indelible backwards compatibility, so that we are permitted to use our older devices as long as we wish! What good is a security app when the primary features become nullified!? Come on Presence dev team, you can do better!

It worked well for a couple of hours but all I see now is "Last connected 16 hours ago". I wish I didnt pay for Pro.

New update w geo-fencing works just ok; in theory geo-fencing is awesome but feature only works intermittently. Still issues w manual changing of home v. Away mode (not always responsive).

This is the worst thing I have ever tried to set up. Cant make it work and there is no help.

I am a real fan of these guys! I started out using Presence with my old iPhone 4 to keep an eye on my home when away. Then I upgraded to Pro Video for only $4.99 to get all the awesome video features and storage. Then I upgraded to Presence Security for a powerful whole home security system giving me peace of mind knowing my family is safe. And now I even got some compatible GE Link light bulbs that interact with Presence Security so that when I am in away mode and one of my doors open, then my Presence camera starts recording video, the lights turn on in my house, and I get alerts to my phone right away so I know whats up. I just love it! No other security system can do this. Thanks Team Presence! You are the best!

iPhone 4 does not record sound when it detects motion but I can here sound while viewing in regular mode. What gives! No good if it cant record sound! Please address this issue

Ive used Presence every day for years to watch my dog while Im at work. Now that Ive moved into a new home, I use it as a security camera, and I have entry sensors so I know when my front door opens. The most useful sensor is one on my garage door so I never have to worry about whether I left it open or not (which I never have, but some of you can relate) - I just check the app and it says "closed." The peace of mind this app brings me is priceless.
